Microcrystalline wax has higher flexibility and better water resistance than coarse crystalline wax. The mixture of coarse crystalline wax and microcrystalline wax is often used as waterproof coating. Generally used in rubber, cosmetics, casting, electronics, daily chemical glazing, hot melt adhesive and other industries.

Microcrystalline wax is a solid hydrocarbon separated from residue fractions with boiling point higher than 450℃. The melting point of microcrystalline wax is generally 68~90℃. The majority of its molecular composition is still alkanes (generally no more than 30%), and most of the rest is cycloalkanes with long side chains, in addition to iso-alkanes and a very small number of aromatics. The average relative molecular weight of microcrystalline wax is generally 450~700, and the number of carbon atoms in the molecule is 22~80. The main group of microcrystalline wax is divided into alkanes with long side chain rings and isomeric alkanes, and the molecular weight is very irregular, which prevents the formation of large or intact crystals, so microcrystalline wax belongs to amorphous or small crystalline wax. The nature of microcrystalline wax is toughness, not easy to break, and microcrystalline wax has plasticity, not easy to break under pressure and show a certain fluidity.
Microcrystalline wax, white amorphous amorphous solid wax, mainly C31-70 branched chain saturated hydrocarbons, containing a small amount of cyclic, straight chain hydrocarbons, odorless and tasteless. Insoluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in hot ethanol, soluble in benzene, chloroform, ether, etc. It can be miscible with various mineral waxes, vegetable waxes and hot fat oils. The residue after petroleum fractionation is used as raw material and refined. Used for polish, rust prevention, carbon paper, candles, packaging impregnation and fruit coating of paste products; Also used in cosmetics, color pens, shoe polish, a variety of polishing wax and so on.
